Inclusion

Weil’s commitment to inclusion has been part of our DNA since 1931 when Frank Weil, Sylvan Gotshal, and Horace Manges faced many doors closed to them because of their religious affiliation. They founded Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP to open those doors. Since our founding, Weil has been a leader in investing in impactful initiatives to promote our inclusive work culture and ensure fair access to opportunities. Our core values of respect and support create an environment where all feel comfortable and encouraged to excel.

Weil focuses on inclusion across all walks of life including disability, gender identity, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic background, and veteran status, among others, and acknowledges the intersection of different aspects of an individual’s identity.

Inclusion in the Day to Day

Inclusion in the Day to Day encourages everyone at the Firm to be intentional in their daily habits and interactions on their teams. The campaign focuses on how simple actions applied consistently and purposefully contribute to a more inclusive and fair workplace. Technology tools were also developed to support respectful interactions, such as a name pronunciation resource.

To amplify this campaign, “Show Your Work” was launched in 2023 to encourage attorneys and business professionals to share their individual and team-based inclusive habits. In January 2024, the Show Your Work Summit highlighted these practices to inspire everyone at the Firm to incorporate inclusive and fair practices into their every day.

In 2024, Weil achieved Mansfield Certification from Diversity Lab for the third consecutive year, a key industry accreditation ensuring a fair and equal opportunity for all lawyers to advance into leadership.
